House Hunters International has nothing on us

We rented a house in Belnam (a community south of Kralendijk) for three weeks. One week into our vacation, we were sitting by the pool and thought that it would be really great to live like this all the time.  We loved the weather, all the activities on the island, we liked the vibe, the people and most of all the outdoor living.

We went downtown and walked into the Remax office.  We told them we would like to buy a house. We thought we would just look around and see what was for sale. The agent said they would research and find properties that fit our criteria. We wanted a pool, a couple of bedrooms,  and great outdoor space.

So they found us several. We looked at a house that had been on the market for 3 hours.  We loved it! The only impulsive thing we have ever done in our lives...we bought it.

We put a down payment on the house in February 2020. We came home to Colorado because the Covid pandemic was raging.  The owners want to close in December 2020.  We though that would be great because it would take us that long to get our stuff together to move.  So the deal was done and we were back in Denver by March 2020.

We had seen hundreds of House Hunters international.  Each time, the people said we sold everything and decided to go to Costa Rico. Let me tell you, it is not that easy to move to a foreign country, leave everything you know and love, and just show up and buy a house.

By the time December rolled around, it was impossible to travel anywhere from the United States.  The sellers were struggling getting their house build in Holland.  So we jointly decided to move the closing to February 2021.  That is almost exactly one year from the date we decided to purchase our house in Bonaire.

"Snow" in Bonaire

I was driving home from Bon Tera ( a local vegetable farm) and in front of the airport this foam stuff was floating all over. It looked like...
